Leaving Sri Lanka was especially bitter-sweet this year as friends new and old enveloped us in elephant-sized love, and the seeds of projects planted last year began to take root. The complex challenges of HEC remain and there are no easy answers for the people, the land, and the captive and wild elephants, but the Circle of Compassion widened and within it are good people working together to shift conflict into coexistence for all.
Education is key to vastly improving the treatment of elephants already in captivity, to ensure a future for the remaining wild elephants and their habitat, and to hear the longing of the rural children and their stories. We’ll be returning soon, joining hands and Heart with friends all coming together to “Let What Moves You Move the World!”.
Next stop: Thailand and growing our Humane Tourism Campaign (#NotOnMyBucketList), whilst returning once again to share Humane Animal Education with some very special island kids. Everywhere we go there are so many children already filled with Elephant Love, and with a little support they can change the future for all of the animals surrounding them and the habitat they call home.
What EVER it is that MOVES you is CALLING you. Compassion without Action is too sentimental a thing, but your Compassionate ACTION can change everything, and it will certainly change YOU along the way. All together now!
